Simi is a shining star on the Nigerian urban gospel/inspirational music scene. Ever since she released her debut album ‘OGA JU’ in 2008, she’s been getting positive reviews and regular airplay on “Naija” airwaves.
Simisola started singing and dancing in her early teens as a member of both the teen church choir (at Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos NG) and her former musical “posse” – OUTSTANDIN”. However, she …waited till she had finished her B.A. degree in Mass Media Communications at Convent Uni before deciding to focus all her time and effort towards the release of the forementioned debut album, which included the hits “ARA ILE”, “IYA TEMI” and the title track “OGA JU”.
The youngest daughter in an artistically inclined family, young Simi was an undiscovered gem. Under the watchful eye of her family and music mentors, she finally discovered the magic of “music for all – regardless of religion or culture”. Simi, who wrote her first song at the age of ten, went ahead to become a fabulous song writer.
In 2007, Simi decided to go solo. Her first album (produced by SamKlef) was released in August, 2008. Till date, tracks from the album are still major hits on the airwaves.
Simi has begun work on her sophomore album, while shooting videos for the hit “I DO”. She recently released two widely anticipated and mind-blowing singles – Take a Chance (produced by Samklef) and Emi L’onijo (produced by Kollo).
Simisola’s inspiration is, first and foremost, from God. She also gets inspiration from real life happenings and situations. She’s determined to prove to the world that inspirational music can reach and touch people around the world. She’s also convinced this can be done without yielding to life’s many vices.
Her role models are artistes like Asa, Cobhams, Natasha Beddingfield and T.Y Bello. Her mum Jedidiah Ogunleye, as well as her church ministers, Rev. Sam Adeyemi and Pastor Nike Adeyemi, have also been strong rocks of support in her life and career. Simisola is destined for greatness and the sky is just a stepping stone…
