But Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba returned to the bright lights of London on Saturday as they filmed a tense stand-off with their enemy.
The Rock, 46, cut a demeaning figure as he prowled the capital’s streets as Agent Hobbs and took part in an exhilarating car chase with the aid of his co-stars.
The men transformed into their super-macho characters, with Jason, 51, who plays Deckard Shaw, emerging from a flashy black McLaren, while Luther star Idris, 46, set pulses racing in leather biker gear as he stood arrived by motorbike as character Brixton.
The trio fought off danger from their rival gang, who were in a black Range Rover, with injured actress Vanessa Kirby spotted running barefoot along the street, trying to flee the gunfire.
Following the tense car chase, the trio appeared victorious after smashing their rivals’ car windows and tearing the doors from its hinges.
The demand for the film pushed back the release of the ninth installment of the Fast and Furious series. The action film is set for release on August 2, 2019.
The Crown’s Vanessa will also star alongside Statham, The Rock and Elba in the fast-paced action movie.
Statham promised his 18million followers there are ‘big things to come’ from the Hobbs and Shaw movie.
The hunk revealed he was excited to be working with his co-star The Rock once again as he joked he would have to tear him away from the pancake stack.
He shared on Instagram: ‘Day 1 on “Hobbs & Shaw” movie. Getting the instructions from an old pal and the Director of our film @davidmleitch. Massive respect to you Dave for the incredible vision and scope you have planned for this movie.
‘There are big things to come! The other big thing to come will be arriving imminently, that’s if he can peel himself away from his stack of pancakes.
