Star Ariana Grande Finally shares The 7 friendship rings to her Best friends.
Ariana Grande released the second single from her upcoming album Thank U, Next, entitled 7 Rings, with a stunning pink-infused music video.
The song was reportedly inspired by a shopping spree the 25-year-old singer took with her six best friends, following her break-up with Pete Davidson, where she bought engagement rings for herself and her friends.
7 Rings was described as an, ‘anthem for female empowerment’ in the TMZ report from Wednesday, with the song and the accompanying music video living up to that description. The song is set to the classic tune My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music, albeit with a much more modern flavor, while continuing the singer’s flare for including Japanese culture.
One of the opening shots of the video features a car with a license plate in Japanese, while the title graphic featuring the song title in English and Japanese. The opening moments of the video show a set bathed in pink hues, with all of the actresses (many of whom are Ariana’s actual friends), dressed in variations of pink as well. The friends who Ariana actually bought the rings for are Alexa Luria, Courtney Chipolone, Tayla Parx, Victoria Monet, Njomza Vita and Kim ‘Kaydence’ Krysiuk, according to PopCrush.
The song begins with Grande describing some of her ‘favorite things,’ including, ‘breakfast at Tiffany’s and bottles of bubbles/Girls with tattoos who like getting in trouble/Lashes and diamonds, ATM machines.’
Instead of saying ‘These are a few of my favorite things,’ Grande mixes it up by saying, ‘Buy myself all of my favorite things.’
